Our Technology
At Eye Image, we utilize the tools and technology made available within our industry to optimize your eye care. Our digital instrumentation allows us the ability to make accurate insights about your overall ocular health. Here are some of the latest technologies we use for our patients:
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive technique that examines light waves and cross-section images of your retina (the light-sensitive tissue lining the back of your eye). OCT allows us to view each of the retina’s distinctive layers so we can measure their thickness. Measuring their thickness allows us to detect, diagnose and treat many retinal diseases and conditions, including age-related macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease, among others.
OCT is also used to evaluate disorders relating to your optic nerve, which is made up of many nerve fibers. Your optic nerve is responsible for sending signals from your retina to your brain, which are then interpreted as the images you see. When an eye condition such as glaucoma changes the fibers of your optic nerve, an OCT exam can be especially helpful in diagnosing this condition.
Digital Retinal Photography (DRP)
Digital retinal photography (DRP) is used to reveal certain eye conditions, including macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. Using a high-powered digital camera, detailed images of the back of your eye are taken during this procedure.
